Japanese Animation Movies

Since the founding of the Japanese animated films the world has learned to fall in love with her, and because many of them in Japanese, you'll find that the people to read the subtitles and still like to see these movies used to. Animated films in Japan began in 1917, and since have gone on more than just movies, but make cartoon series.

Some of these Japanese animation movies would be suitable for small children, but because a growing majority of adult viewersjust started to make films more mature and more mature scenes, do not watch the little children. However, they began to observe the creation of more family-oriented films for the whole family and not just children or adults could.

As the animated films it was easier to be creative for the creators of Japanese animation films, and go the whole hog with the art and the drawings. One could say that the movie is very imaginative and full of imagination. It was easierworks for the director, a story, because it was animated and all the old stories of Japanese vampires and all other creatures were simply created and made entertaining films. Would be another key figure in the Japanese animation of the samurai and his sword. Many of the films samurai warriors and the funny thing was that they were warriors of the past into the future, is actually quite interesting to watch.

Many of the animation was like a work of art and theWorks of Japanese calligraphy and Japanese painting also came into play to create the most features of the animation style. If you are Japanese for animated movies, then you can always get from the Internet, and they are very interesting to observe.

The Movies Begin - A Treasury of Early Cinema, 1894-1913

The Movies Begin - A Treasury of Early Cinema, 1894-1913 Review

Covers history of silent films with textual menu and includes 133 complete motion pictures. The best historical treasury of silents films I have ever seen.

The Movies Begin - A Treasury of Early Cinema, 1894-1913 Feature

The Movies Begin - A Treasury of Early Cinema, 1894-1913 Overview

The home-video revolution has yielded a wealth of valuable compilations, but few are as miraculously definitive as The Movies Begin. Equally suited to home or classroom viewing, this authoritative five-volume set is a vital document of film history, providing a one-stop destination for anyone wishing to witness the first two decades of motion pictures. That period--from 1894 to 1913--saw movies develop at a breakneck pace, from the earliest "actualities" of the Lumière brothers in France to D.W. Griffith's audacious development of dramatic action in the Biograph shorts of the early 1910s. Sensibly organized into pivotal stages of technical and creative progress, each of these volumes represents the priceless value of film preservation; all 133 films in the set are presented in the finest condition available, from archival prints to complete restorations, and accompanied by music that perfectly captures the spirit of each film and the time of their creation.

Under the expert guidance of film historian David Shepard, this collection is uniquely comprehensive, with fact, fiction, and fantasy represented in equal measure. All major figures are included; it's fitting that one volume is devoted to astonishing shorts by movie magician Georges Méliès, while other volumes serve as "greatest hits" compilations of movie innovations by Edwin S. Porter, Cecil Hepworth, Max Linder, Alice Guy Blanche, and many others. The breathtaking growth of movies is fully apparent by volume 5 ("Comedy, Spectacle, and New Horizons"); most viewers will find this the most entertaining, but each volume is a revelation, offering films that haven't been widely seen since they were first produced. To understand and appreciate the foundation upon which modern filmmaking is built, The Movies Begin is truly essential. --Jeff Shannon

Babylon 5 - The Gathering (TV Premiere DVD)

Babylon 5 - The Gathering (TV Premiere DVD) Review

IT WAS NICE TO SEE THIS SERIES TV PILOT, AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY MEANT TO BE SEEN, AND ENJOYED. THE SHOW WAS ENJOYED, AND IT BROUGHT BACK GOOD TIMES AND PLEASANT MEMORIES OF A ENJOYABLE TV PROGRAM. MANY THANKS.

Babylon 5 - The Gathering (TV Premiere DVD) Feature

Babylon 5 - The Gathering (TV Premiere DVD) Overview

In the early spring of 1993, a year before the series was launched, the two-hour movie and series pilot Babylon 5: The Gathering appeared. This proto-Babylon staked out the initial territory for the series (some of which would change by the first episode), introducing primary characters and sketching out the alliances and rifts in interplanetary diplomacy. Some of the primary characters bowed out after their initial appearances (Tamlyn Tomita's Lt. Commander Laurel Takashima and Johnny Seka's Dr. Benjamin Kyle never returned; Patricia Tallman's telepath Lyta Alexander made periodic revisits beginning in the second season, eventually rejoining the cast permanently). Set on the first anniversary of the Babylon 5 (none of the first four stations survived even a month), the central story involves the attempted assassination of the newly arrived Vorlon, the mysterious Ambassador Kosh, at the hands of (perhaps) Commander Jeffrey Sinclair (Michael O'Hare). Security Chief Michael Garibaldi (Jerry Doyle, a smart-aleck tough guy in the Bruce Willis vein) investigates and uncovers a web of conspirators, a portent of things to come. When TNT picked up the series for the fifth season Straczynski reedited the pilot, weaving back in a dropped subplot while cutting the rest of the film more tightly, tweaking special effects, and commissioning a new score from Christopher Franke. This is the cut released on video, a stronger, more engaging film, but still a broad first stab at characters that would redefine themselves through the course of the show's run. --Sean Axmaker

Moonlight By the Sea

Moonlight By the Sea Review

I saw this film by Justin Hennard at the 2004 Fearless Tales Genre Fest in San Francisco and it simply blew me away! 'Moonlight by the Sea' is a tale of a man's battle within himself and the company that owns him. Set in the near future, one conglomerate company - The Corporation, now owns the world. Albion Moonlight (Sean Allen), is The Corporation's top salesman and foot soldier, who while traveling on an urgent and important mission, crashes his spaceship onto a barren planet with no chance of rescue, communication or possibility of completing that 'big deal.' Meanwhile back on earth, everyone is linked to The Corporation either by employment or the mass consumerism of its mind-altering, addictive products. This is 'Big Brother' on a more logical scale - and eerily - it doesn't appear so far off from the distant future when reviewing the country's status today. Albion, now free of the Corporation's wiring and mechanized thought-reading equipments that have been part of his being for most of his adult life, is, for the first time, alone. His journey through the dry and desolate landscape puts his 'own' mind into overdrive. Have the voices of the Corporation finally stopped? Does he now have free thought and a chance to escape? Unfortunately 'no.' With all this 'free time' on his hands and the fear that he will eventually be rescued and returned to 'active' duty, he obsesses on how to complete his mission. So 'new' is free thought and privacy to him, that he conjures up 2 beings to walk his journey with him; there is Stranger, played by Kingsley Martin, who expertly portrays the side of Albion's brain that is 'all Corporation'. When Albion lets his thoughts wander to the other side of his brain and the prospective of a real life, Stranger begins to short circuit! Albion leaves Stranger behind with the ship to pursue other avenues of thought and escape. His childhood, a loving mother, a once-loving wife, and happy days - all flood back to him. He is allowed free thought and for once, no one can hear it! Enter Nomman, played by Prince Camp. Nomman is the human side of Albion's brain, slowly and patiently trying to reopen the dried riverbeds of Albion's mind, which are much like the landscape they are traveling together.
As we journey through Albion's complex and resigned existence, the film is intercut with high-tech scenes from Corporation Headquarters and our introduction to Gwen Klaus, played by the gorgeous and capable Mylinda Wenz. She is charge of all product sales and the 'correct' thought patterns of her drone workers. She is thrown off schedule by Albion's disappearance and the corporation demands answers and solutions. The Corporation products, which are denied use by any corporation member, are also becoming part of Gwen's closet addiction. She enlists the aid of Capt. Santop (Gary Peters) to assist her, and in an unusual twist of subliminal romance, he covers for her and accepts her strict and clinical abuse, even after discovering her illegal usage. For more storyline, you simply have to get your hands on a copy of this great film. MOONLIGHT BY THE SEA is not your average, run of the mill, sci-fi romp. You're really going to have to put your thinking cap on kids and start using a little gray matter for this one! Justin Hennard has brilliantly created a future world and a hopeless existence for all living under the dictatorship of one singular mindset. He opens the film within the dark and claustrophobic hull of Albion's small ship, and with an ever-widening pinhole of light, he slowly opens the frame to reveal a constricted world.
Shot in lush black & white - a wonderful switch from the computerized C.G.I. fare of today - Hennard's photography grows comparison to the high-art camera work of 90' icons Bruce Weber and the late Herb Ritts. His streamlined sets, lighting, and total attention to detail and continuity, make for very sophisticated viewing. It took me to a far away place - I never once looked at a shot and thought - 'Oh, I know where that is!' Moonlight's look and expression reminded me much of those great French filmmakers from the 1960's. Quite impressive from a new filmmaker who is still very young - but only in years! An art film? Yes. An allegory to today's consumerism and greed? Absolutely!
There isn't a lot of action, just human condition. I think Ray Bradbury and Rod Serling would cheer at Justin Hennard and Jonathan Ackley's intelligent screenplay. I found 'Moonlight' very similar to one of my favorite films; Stanley Kramer's 1959 film of Nevil Shute's WW III epic, On The Beach, which placed Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner in a tale of apocalyptic proportions and relied solely on their 'humanness' as a storyline - and not millions of dollars of special effects.
Some may think MOONLIGHT BY THE SEA a bit highbrow and surreal, but maybe its just time for all of us to start using that part of our brain not controlled by the mass media and look a bit deeper as well. I'm so happy to see it finally getting distribution! * * * *

Xanadu Specifications

A wimpy remake of an already anemic movie (the 1947 Rita Hayworth vehicle Down to Earth), this glitzy musical from 1980 improbably stars Olivia Newton-John as a heavenly muse sent here to help open a roller-derby disco. Gene Kelly is mixed up in this well-meaning but goofy effort to fuse nostalgia with late-'70s glitter-ball trendiness, and he looks just plain silly. Directed by Robert Greenwald, the film doesn't even work as decent kitsch. --Tom Keogh

Dr. Seuss - How the Grinch Stole Christmas/Horton Hears a Who Specifications

This all-time classic now has Horton Hears a Who! on the same video for a great double bill.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
To heck with the kids--this is one of the best holiday presents you can give yourself. Adapted from the children's book by Dr. Seuss, this charming story is one to watch every holiday season. It is just edgy enough to help you forget the more cloying aspects of Christmas, yet it is also sweet enough to remind you of the reason for all that holiday cheer. Animation genius Chuck Jones directed this 1966 television production featuring the voice of Boris Karloff as the mean greenie. Bitter and selfish, the Grinch decides to steal Christmas away from the Whos, the sweet little folk who live at the bottom of his mountain home. When little Cindy Loo Who returns his hateful act with kindness, she melts the old miser's heart. There are many reasons to watch this: inventive wordplay, Karloff's impressive narration, and a very memorable soundtrack. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Horton Hears a Who!
Chuck Jones was chief animator on this lively adaptation of the famous book by Dr. Seuss. The story of a friendly elephant named Horton who discovers--deep inside a daisy--a tiny city called Whoville with tiny, intelligent residents--this film (fleshed out a bit from the source) is strong on character and has striking, appealing visuals. The little folks of Whoville, with their natural air of aristocracy, are a kick, and when they come to see Horton as a hero for his democratic view of all life big and small, the effect is quite touching. This should be a real treat for kids already familiar with the book, and just might inspire those who haven't read it to pick it up. --Tom Keogh

The Secret to Relationships That Last - When Fantasy and Reality Clash

"Why are relationships so difficult?" "Why do they take so much work?" "Why are your relationships are not working as well as you like them?"

The quick answer is that the relationship difficult, because they are so much work, because they are not working and not so good as you would like, because they do not.

Behind this glib response is the statement that we all carry in us the belief about relationships, sometimes subconsciously, and often unexamined. It is the belief that lifeis of what is to be no different. Then, when our fantasy clashes with our reality, we believe that there is something wrong with us, with the other person and with the relationship.

Do you have the movie "Romancing the Stone" with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner? The film opens with a scene from the Old West where a woman was rescued in danger by a beautiful outlaw cowboy who returns to his wife in his arms, lifts her up on his horse and rideswith her into the sunset. It is a perfect depiction of a perfect dream relationship.

Unfortunately, it is a dream. After a short fade out, we see that the whole thing to the imagination of Kathleen Turner, the writer creates a scene in her head for a book they are working, is come out with. If the real cowboys, played by Michael Douglas, who materializes in fact the reality of who he clashes with the fantasy, what would it be Kathleen.

Within this one scene ina film is the story of all relationships. At some point in every relationship, the reality that one actually, with our imagination, we collide him or her to be like. This happens in every way, personally or professionally.

The person we thought was perfect, it is not. The task we thought would be perfect, it is not.

What we see is that there is nothing really wrong. This is exactly what should happen.

Starting aRelationship is very similar to a job interview. They are both on your best side. Small discrepancies, which are glossed over in a little more might break out and laughed at. They want to be both, "" hired by the other person.

Since, in a relationship after you have set "to one another." You can not claim that sunny disposition and "everything is perfect behavior all the time. Disagreements will inevitably arise. Some can gloss over and laughed at. Others will requireTo give talks and the willingness to have to vote.

The future of the relationship will depend on the choice you make in this moment. And it is a choice. No person will be perfect. No job is perfect. The grass is not really greener on the other side. It's just green.

If you're going to make a long term relationship to have to go, the choice to do so, because the ratio will at times be difficult to take a lot of work and do not always work as well asThey would like to.

Please take this advice from someone who has been married for 36 years. It is these moments of choice, in fact, the ratio of cement and not the moments of happiness.

100 Strong Women Movies

Here is my list of 100 Strong Women Movies, is both "evil" and "nice."

This is not a "Chick Flick" list. Many of these films are jam packed with bloody action or psychological thrills, so be warned: This list is not for weak stomachs or faint of heart.

My main criterion was women awesome inner strength. If they happen to be beautiful, even better. I would not rule out the bad girls.

Let me know if I all of you recommend a mistake. I am always on the lookout forgood films with strong women, because, frankly, there are just not enough of them out there!

A. badasses

These characters are born killers, not that killing is a good thing, but if the situations that confront women are faced with, is virtually certain. The bad girls, like the women in The Last Seduction, Romeo Is Bleeding "and" Basic Instinct "are just as formidable, hard-hearted and calculating, as the men go after them. It just happened a lotsmarter than the men in these films.

1. Kill Bill (Volumes 1 and 2)

2. Alien (and sequels Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection)

3. The Long Kiss Goodnight

4. La Femme Nikita (France)

But, they're not as blameless for their difficult situations, like the women in the Revenge / Self Defense group, because they chose their life purpose, or at least accepted.

C. REVENGE / SELF DEFENSE

These women never wanted to be heroes. They were just struggling to get by until the Life pushed them between a rock and a hard place. Not natural born killers like the badasses, still volunteersFreedom fighters like the group before, but when it comes hard to shove, they do not back down from any fights, either.

21. 28 Days Later

22. The Quick and the Dead (1995)

The Dangers of Harry Potter

The Harry Potter book has just been released in the bookstores this week. This book is the sixth book in a planned series of 7 pounds.

I'm sure you've all heard that these books have been a great success, and there are millions of children around the world connected to these books and many adults are. The publishing industry has never quite let go. What is the fascination with these books and now the movie, why are so many children and someAdults, these books drawn?

There have always been movies and fiction books on witchcraft, sorcery and witchcraft - but none of them ever gained the popularity that this series has the books. What is so different from the books with this line? Why are they so much more popular than anything else ever written?

Many of the major Christian ministries are large weapons on these
Books and now the movie. They say that these books are a lure for children and leadAdults in witchcraft and the other dark occult arts.

However, we have always had this kind of films and books coming to us. Why suddenly so many Christians are against these books, where it really does not in the past with all the fantasy films from Hollywood to come by in the past.

I've always felt in my spirit that there really is something different with these series of books - but I've never bought or read them all. I went ahead and rents the first Harry Potter video and watched it in its entirety to see if these Christians are right in their criticism of this movie and these books or if they're not only led to him that straightforward at first glance seems to be harmless fantasy
Entertainment.

After the monitoring and review of this film very carefully, it is my personal opinion that the Christians into the arms of these books and movies are right! This> Film and especially the series of books themselves, is a definite lure from the dark side and to lure people into the trap of not only witchcraft itself - but other occult arts, which were expressly forbidden by God the Father in the Bible.

There is no question that Satan is orchestrating the way that these books were written and how they were so clever to a mass audience put on the market that have no idea what's really lurking behind all of it. Satan has very cleverly puta great spiritual mystery of these books and movies that is in operation in the spiritual world, that some of the ignorant and naive is to the real world of draw
Witchcraft.

The secret is the law of spiritual seeking. The Bible tells us to look for - and then we will see. This Spirtual principle works not only in the kingdom of God - but it also works in the field of Satan, where he and his demons, who she tries to eat a second can roam.

And Harry Potter is given the chanceofficial title of a seeker in the first book. And what can go on the lookout when he begins to have the subject of Witchcraft and Wizardry after the reading of books of this type of research and implanted the seed of desire in them because of reading these kind of pound? Hundreds and hundreds of books on the subject of witchcraft - all with specific titles, like you really a witch, how to form a circle, how to actually cast spells, etc.

Go to any major bookstore Borders- And you are literally several hundred pounds in their metaphysical section - all of which deal specifically with the issue of witchcraft and how to get started and progress further into it. And if that person decides he will try some of this occult activity - he has now officially crossed into enemy terrority and now he has full view of the legal right to the demonic realm in him and his life.

And all this can only be started by a few seeds of desire, canplanted in an imagined only by imagination and how it would be if they were the kind of supernatural power, has the Harry Potter books would get into all this. And with many of the readers of this line of books that our younger children - it does not much to see what could be a deadly combination this is a very young and very innocent mind will be influenced.

All Christians, especially Christians, the younger children who want to read and are really into thisBooks should be about the spiritual trap laid with these books will be warned.

Dark Shadows: The Haunting of Collinwood

Dark Shadows: The Haunting of Collinwood Review

Decades before Twilight there was Dark Shadows, the first-ever gothic soap opera, its supernatural stories captivating audiences young and old almost 45 years.

With its alluring tales of Gothic mystery and supernatural intrigue, Dark Shadows became one of the most popular daytime series of all time. Since first airing on ABC-TV from 1966-71, Dark Shadows has justifiably earned the reputation of being one of the most unusual and enduring TV programs in history.

Thanks to MPI Home Video, that iconic Classic returns with two special DVDs compiling episode scenes from two of its most popular story arcs, one featuring the character Barnabas Collins, the vampire, the second disc featuring Quentin Collins, the werewolf.

Each disc, sold separately, contains about three hours of content, which includes selected scenes from color episodes as well as a new interview with the actor whose character is spotlighted.

Dark Shadows: The Haunting of Collinwood, is devoted to the original beloved werewolf - Quentin Collins.

Dark Shadows debuted in June 1966, but faced cancellation because of poor ratings within a year. Creator Dan Curtis, desperate to save the show, decided to "go" supernatural, so he launched various spook-filled stories that led to the introduction of vampire Barnabas Collins, portrayed by Jonathan Frid. The storyline saved the show, but several years later, the ratings dipped again. So, Curtis released another phenomenon from the genie bottle: the werewolf, Quentin Collins.

The introduction of Quentin, portrayed unforgettably by David Selby, was a high mark for the show and rejuvinated its fan base. The story involving Quentin had all of the elements that made Dark Shadows a true classic - the only soap opera in history to have had ALL of its episodes released on DVD. Like Frid two years earlier, Selby became incredibly popular, an instant idol and sex symbol among teenaged girls.

In this special disc, the origin of Quentin is told. Selby was also interviewed specially for this compilation release.

Quentin's tale had the core cast of the series portraying their own relatives, and other characters in the Collinwood of 1897, after Barnabas Collins had traveled back in time using secrets from the mystical Chinese practice of the I Ching, or Book of Changes.

Barnabas had made the supernatural voyage back in time to save young David Collins and his friend, Amy Jennings, who had both become possessed in modern-day (1970's) Collinwood. The children were being menaced by a horrifying and utterly silent ghost - the spectre of Quentin Collins.

Quentin was the victim of a werewolf curse that had been placed on him by a grieving gypsy, Magda Rocozzi (portrayed with memorable gusto in an Emmy-calibre performance by Grayson Hall), who blamed him for the death of her sister, who was also Quentin's wife.

Complicating the plot was the arrival of the sinister Count Andres Petoffi (also protrayed with brilliance by core cast member Thayer David), who possessed supernatural powers and was being hunted by the gypsies. Barnabas believed that the cure to Quentin's "affliction" rested with Petofi. If Quentin could be cured, then the children facing death in Collinwood's present day would be saved!

The core brilliance of has made Dark Shadows endure are the eternal themes it illustrated: Love, death, fear, longing, revenge, obsession, lies, secrets, loyalty and betrayal all played out against a compelling backdrop of Gothic sensibilities that included vampires, werewolves, zombies, seances, time travel, ghosts, mystery, murder, intrigue and a constant dose of the unexpected.

This "soap opera" managed to transcend its genre by bringing a taste of Gothic horror and science-fiction fantasy to the hum-drum world of the afternoon drama. There had never been anything like it before - and there never has been since!

In addition to Selby, Frid, Hall and David, primary co-stars on the disc are: Joan Bennett, Louis Edmonds, Nancy Barrett, Lara Parker, David Henesy, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Terry Crawford, Virgina Vestoff, Don Brisco, Marie Wallace, Donna McKechnie, Clarice Blackburn, John Karlen, Michael Stroka, Paula Laurence, Diana Millay and Jerry Lacy.

(As noted: The entire series is available on DVD, also produced by MPI Home Video.)

The Lake House (Widescreen Edition)

The Lake House (Widescreen Edition) Review

I'll never understand why directors take a great plot, good acting, and all-round good movie and feel they need to stick in people living together who aren't married and camera shots of a woman's chest! Those two events if deleted from the movie would have had NO impact whatsoever. Good grief...is it simply that movie viewers today are too stupid to enjoy a movie for its quality alone? I don't think so.

The Fray by Phillip Bradbury - Book Review

The Fray is a post-apocalyptic newly published novel by author Philip Bradbury, it is a blend of science fiction, fantasy and horror fans, and would also contribute significantly to the post-apocalyptic fiction appeal. Having been heavily influenced by authors such as Stephen King and Robert Jordan; Bradbury has infused his worship and adoration of the hand of his literary colleagues in his own work, so a novel is rich in depth, with touches of mysticism and turns of the story that Stephen would doKing proud.

Bradbury taps into the themes and plot devices that are used a lot of fans of this genre, but he delivers them with such originality and conviction that he fills the reader with excitement and curiosity.

The book is in the distant future in which the majority of the population of the world from a virus Destrachan overcome nightmarish set, that their sacrifice eating meat turns into crazy zombies. The rest of humanity is rather uncertain in closed severalreinforced outposts, which can protect them from the constant attacks of the undead. Sera and Gabriel have to fight from a nearby outpost against the time to humanity, the source of the virus with a fortune-teller predicting to save them to victory guide.

The story with many twists and intrigue that the reader occupies commitment and desire for more, and that one of the many reasons why this book is successful. The story is original yet delicately influenced by other worksfrom the horror and fantasy genre. However, these effects are ultimately beneficial and have helped to Bradbury to create something special that I sincerely hope the reader gets it deserves.

Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns

Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns Review

Great Christmas time movie for the whole family. Old school animation brings this movie to life. Story line is great and it will not let any age down as far as being a worth while Holiday flick!

Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns Feature

Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns Overview

Movie DVD

Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns Specifications

A double bill starring Frosty:
Frosty the Snowman
Jimmy Durante narrates this Christmas story that is based on the song of the same name. To make up for the fact that her students are in school on Christmas Eve, the local schoolteacher hires the magician Professor Hinkle to entertain the kids. Unfortunately, he's not a very good magician. Frustrated in his attempt to pull a rabbit out of his hat, he throws it away in anger. Outside, the kids build a snowman (what to call it? Harold? Oatmeal? Frosty!), and when the hat blows onto it--Happy Birthday!--it comes to life. Professor Hinkle decides he wants the hat back so he can make money off of its newfound magical properties, but the kids want to save Frosty. When the temperature starts to rise, a new problem threatens Frosty's existence. Karen, the leader of the children, comes up with a plan to save him: take him on a train to the North Pole, where it's always cold. With a cameo by Santa Claus, and the promise of Frosty's return every year, this story of life, death, and holiday cheer is glazed with the sweet frosting of hope and happiness. A true holiday classic.

Frosty Returns
In the same way that many a Hollywood sequel has little to do with the first film, Frosty Returns has almost nothing in common with the original Frosty the Snowman, aside from a man made of snow. The biggest difference is that this Frosty doesn't need a magic hat to come to life. The story: In the town of Beansboro, old Mr. Twitchell has invented an aerosol spray that can remove snow without the hassle of shoveling or plows. This frightens Frosty, who enlists the help of amateur magician Holly and her friend Charles to stop the old coot. Made in 1992, Frosty Returns has an animation style that looks like a cross between the old Schoolhouse Rock and Peanuts cartoons, with voice talent that includes Jonathan Winters, Andrea Martin, Jan Hooks, Brian Doyle-Murray, and John Goodman as Frosty. The story may be divisive, pitting children against adults and a pro-snow contingent against anti-snow people, but the songs are catchy and the message is one that ultimately empowers kids. Like a hero from an old Western, this Frosty is a wanderer who leaves when his job is done so he can work his magic elsewhere. --Andy Spletzer

Digimon - The Movie

Digimon - The Movie Review

I really love this movie because the animation is a very original style, and though its a bit on the odd-looking style, its decidedly NOT the typical anime. It also has this great fluidity to the way thinsg move in it that I utterly adore. Thedubbers actually did a pretty good job with the translation and music selection. I understand that it was originally three different 'mini movies' in Japan, and the dubbers were able to combine them really well so that the transitions weren't too bad. They all had a connection with one another so it wasn't seperated completely.

All in all, I think this is a great movie if you're a fan of animation and so forth.

WHEN A POWERFUL NEW INTERNET DIGIMON HATCHES AND BEGINS TO CONSUME DATA AT AN ALARMING RATE, THE DIGIDESTINED KIDS CHOSEN TO SAVE THE DIGITAL WORLD, MUST PUT AN END TO THE DESTRUCTION BEFORE THE DAMAGE BECOMES IRREVERSIBLE! FEATURES: TRAILER, MUSIC VIDEO, PAN & SCAN, ENGLISH SUBTITLES.

Digimon - The Movie Specifications

Like the similar Pokémon craze, the animated Digimon TV series has spawned a full-length theatrical film. The two phenomena are similar: kids collect monsters and go on adventures. While Pokémon has a sense of odyssey and a wisp of a moral, Digimon is flat-out rough-and-tumble adventure. Can an adult figure out the digi-details of the digi-world? Here's a digi-shot. That world is full of evolving monsters that live and fight in their own ways. The digi-world and real world can intermix, and one of the portals is the Internet. So kids sit at their laptops and fight with their digi-monsters in an abstract environment that looks like something from Tron but with none of the cool. The first 50 of 83 minutes is backstory that takes place eight years earlier. So everyone is grown up (as the time frame leaps over all the original Digimon TV shows), and Digimon and humans interact on Earth. A bad digi-virus is bent on revenge, and it will take more than a laptop to defend the planet. That said, if the end of the world ever looms, a golden digi-egg will be a good thing to have. Sailor Moon - The Movies Dream Boxed Set

Sailor Moon - The Movies Dream Boxed Set Review

This is the best thing ever!! I'm so glad I bought it, even if I bought it elsewhere. My box set was the signature series one. But anyway...you get the original Japanese version it all it's glory, but you also get...the uncut English version!!!! Well, you still have to deal with the crappy English dialouge but all the edited scenes are put back in, including untouched transformations (Luna included)!!! If you are a REAL Sailor Moon fan, you'll stop complaining and get this boxset now!!!!!

Sailor Moon - The Movies Dream Boxed Set Feature

Sailor Moon - The Movies Dream Boxed Set Overview

As the Sailor Moon TV episodes tend to be repetitive, the sustained stories in the features allow the artists to explore the familiar characters in a little more depth. In all three films, Serena and her friends Amy, Raye, Lita, and Mina (Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako in Japanese), aided by Darren (Mamoru), fight off aliens bent on destroying the world. In the R movie (1993), the villain is Fiore, who is held in thrall by the sinister Kisenian Flower. In the S movie (1994), Kaguya wants to encase the Earth in ice; Badiyanu kidnaps children and uses their "dream energy" to create a planet-engulfing black hole in Super S (1995). The two later films include "Outer Scouts" Michiru, Haruka, and Setsuna, a.k.a. Sailors Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto. R enjoys the best reputation among fans and has the most interesting story. Fiore treats Serena as a rival for Darren's affections, and the subtitles suggest the attachment is quite passionate; the dubbed version sounds tamer. A weird subplot in which Luna the cat falls in love with the kindhearted astronomer Kakeru throws the S movie out of kilter. Super S offers imaginative visuals, including elaborate CG effects and brightly colored backgrounds. All three films provide the broad humor, budding adolescent romance, magic, and affirmations of the power of friendship that Sailor Moon fans expect. Suggested 13 Up: Violence, brief nudity. The VHS editions are edited and are suitable for age 6 and up. --Charles Solomon

The Return of the Living Dead Specifications

"Do ya wanna party?" challenges the soundtrack to this freaky and funny reworking of George Romero's Night of the Living Dead. Paced to the beat of a pounding rock score, this comic flesh feast delivers both laughs and outlandish gore. No longer lumbering, moaning creatures, these lithe, feral, and cunning undead claw their way out of the cemetery and into the skulls of a human smorgasbord. They even master the art of home delivery: "Send more cops," croaks a corpse into a patrol car radio. Director Dan O'Bannon even takes pains to explain their motivation between the tributes to the granddaddy of zombie horrors ("Well, it worked in the movie!" screams James Karen when a pickax to the skull hardly phases a lively cadaver). Not that it really matters amid the gore and gallows humor, but it does add a kick to the cynically sinister climax. --Sean Axmaker

Multiplicity

Multiplicity Review

Michael Keaton is Doug, an overworked husband and father. He is being pulled in a hundred different directions, so he clones himself. Problems solved... right?

I really like this film. Keaton does a great job of playing four separate Dougs. The clones get the best lines in this movie, and I still find myself quoting #4 all the time.

A sweet movie about making time for your family, this film takes an original approach. It doesn't try to be anything more than cute, and I think it works.

Multiplicity Feature

Multiplicity Overview

Michael Keaton and Andie MacDowell star in director Harold Ramis' brilliant comedy about a man who clones himself to save his marriage, and then almost loses his wife to himself! Overworked and over-scheduled, contractor Doug Kinney never has enough time for his wife and family. So when a helpful geneticist offers to "xerox" Doug, it seems like the perfect solution until the clones begin to take over his home, his job, and his bed. Keaton takes on four hilariously distinct roles as the comic possibilities quickly multiply in this genuinely funny, touching romantic comedy.

Multiplicity Specifications

An inevitable idea: a working man (Michael Keaton) who can't meet all his professional and family responsibilities has himself cloned. It works so well having one copy of himself to take charge of matters at the office that he makes another copy who takes care of the home front. Pretty soon, different aspects of Keaton's personality are emphasized in the different clones: the laborer becomes a macho creep and the domestic god becomes rather feminine. A third clone, struck from the duplicates instead of the original, becomes like a photocopy of a photocopy: inferior. This timely comedy should be better than it is, but special-effects requirements are so labor-intensive that most scenes feel stiff and leaden. Keaton is good in all four parts, and in certain gee-whiz effects scenes, where he even high-fives himself, he pulls off a minor miracle or two. (Of course, a kid did the same thing in Disney's 1998 remake of The Parent Trap.) The DVD release includes optional widescreen and standard formats and optional French and Spanish soundtracks. --Tom Keogh

Criminal Profiling - Fact or Fantasy?

In the field of criminology, real-world practitioners are sometimes intrigued by the gullibility of human perceptions. Of which, later on, we see the development of alleged expertise, purporting some new invention. Gee whiz gadgets and gizmos of feel good "psycho-babble" interfere with the realistic practical applications. These dreamlike conjectures typically involve replacing fact with fiction. Pseudo-science that hasn't met the reliability of bone fide experiential authenticity. Usually, This impulse to speculation based on sensational news. Television, talk-show "experts", or movie scripts creative financing of the urban legends of criminal behavior theory. Careers are identified that are sold produce books and films. Sooner or later, are born craft. Instant "experts" to invent themselves. Set up web sites. Write stories about "serial killers" they know. This is sleight of cunning tactics. Intellectual fortune telling at its finest. Because suchThings are bound by the commercialization of product candidates on principle. It is conceivable, we have removed from the duplicity of "Dangerous Minds had been deceived." This threat has the black suited, dark sunglasses match the shady self-interest. You are in the sanctity of the sacred ivory tower and high offices. Places that produce the "running" anything. By "serial" arsonists, the "serial" bank robbers, bombers and "serial" killer. Are the real Men in Black ", theTo make use of the fears and frets from simple naivete?

Sometimes, agencies of state systems produce scientific theory in social policy. A procedure in which the error of reasoning leads to the rapid generalization. Then, eventually, from the entertainment industry continues, "scientific credibility" circling the factual reality. Transformation occurs, and before you know it, the surreal has become the real. Two-dimensional double-inspires imaginative thinking withEnchantments. Some politicians, press, university professors and priestly forms, are often very good dexterity tactics. Exciting adventures appear out of the wrong term, the criminal mind. " Unfortunately, it is all too often the case that assumptions, models for implementation. Condition, disguised as truth, in the end influence on our criminal justice systems.

As if such things so easy when it comes to human thought. Myths, legends and fables Garnerthe headlines and the excitement of "solving" real-life crime. This is highlighted in relation to the abundance of media driven fascination with alleged "criminal profiling". Not to forget, then the ecstasy pleasured to a "psychic profiler". And the growth of the industry that surrounds it. Or career development as "criminal" profiler. "Academics from non-practitioners of any kind, seems to Enthrallment endless. Regardless of related observations, perceptions of the couplingHandle the fantastic allegations. Nevertheless, the human motives, intentions and lustful inclinations go unsolved. People do not fit in neat categories with clever editing provided with labels. Ideas, motivations and emotions are complex and unique for each person. Integration of neural networks link mysteriously intricate connections. The people are extraordinary in the secrecy of their diverse tastes. We change actions, correct errors, set priorities and to evade detection. It is difficult to quantifyindividual suspects in simplistic templates. Personal curious, ambitious, risk-taking and unethical decision making in the secrets hidden from us all ports remain.

The "Spirit" is a potent Alice in Wonderland hallucination of the brain. His illusions are quickly understand that perceive size and critical data. At the same time the psychological realm also renewed a recreation of what it receives. Subject to the vulnerability of the imagination, intellectual assessment tend to power of suggestion. We know better though. Why else would we like to think so, that was an unknown criminals as a "psychological fingerprint to signal"? Materializing some fanciful notion that magically pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Misleading information that allegedly based on "scientific research", in the course of time, compounds of the deception. Reporters quote official sources. Academics to cite other academics, including news. Politicians phraseology obfuscated using double speak to critical situations. Of"Key Questions", the "suggestive comments", the propaganda of the complicated issues at hand.

The interplay of myth might be confused about authenticity, what is true and what could be wrong. Deception lurks closer to edges of the security is not uncommon. Contrary to what is actually credible scientific data is replicated on the basis of evidence. In the work of the police, this may be detrimental to serious investigations, such as manslaughter. For police officers, everything revolves around theTrace evidence. Not the rabbit hunt. Scientifically verifiable confirmation of forensic applications remain crucial. Instead of a magical moment, waved a "profile" disappear, we should focus on crime scene analysis. What does the physical evidence tell us? The cause-effect relationship between the crime scene, the victim, witnesses and the likely culprit. Nevertheless, the scope of public entertainment that the alleged "scientific" approaches like hypnotized. These are immersed in pop culturefad, fashion and flashy sexiness buff actors. In the long run, we confuse junk science with real police work. Criminalisitcs, in verifiable replications of credibility, take time. And, we're about immediate gratification. Usually, this has a political agenda attached.

The television exploitation of the heroic "criminal profilers" masks the reality of the hard working real-world police officers, lab techs and criminalists. Even though that's the entertainment business, the public, the Press, politicians and some professors, fables turn into real life scenarios. Conjure up, countless theories and speculations. Such errors lead to the conclusion, we of the correctness of the realist authenticities. More often than not, we find the communal imagination captivated by "always within the criminal mind." As if this was a place easily accessible. Imagine climbing into something that is an illusion created by neural networks. How do you get in sound and fury? YouSimply find a line that appears to bridge creative ideas between the scientific methods of psychic and magical abilities. As the grinning Cheshire cat here for a minute and went to the next.

In essence, the relevant data are credible woefully inadequate when it comes to allegations of "criminal profiling". Not only that, but also on the weight of the major scientific studies support these claims. So the question is, is criminal profiling fact or fantasy? StaffAgenda or what? Our appeal for the crimes of murderers we attracts realm of murderous misunderstandings. Multi-killers are very popular in all sorts of genres. Non-practitioners are very creative when it comes to the fictionalization of killers. Of those, we sometimes forget the horrors of the real tragedies and complexity of police investigations.

Instead of the seductive fascination with the so-called "serial killer", it suffices to say the essential multi-murderer. Whether theyDespots, genocide, or ethnocide demicide undertake, on behalf of the nation-state. Or, The Lone Gunman, who once killing several people. Every murderer remains basically the same type of crime, a murderer. Regardless of his motives, which may remain hidden. Killing another person is still murder. But with "serial killer" for example, these multi-killers often only top-billing. Invocation of the "advice" you can find. In response to this in our dark side, we seem to enjoy.News reports or television dramas provoke the fascination with these killers in repetitive depictions. The mental matrix of the audience becomes lured by the darkly appealing enticements. As the tales spin, the pseudo-sciences of sociology and psychology, equivocate theoretical constructs. The entertainment continues. And, some intellectual potions strongly influence our criminal justice systems. Subsequently, social policy emanates from hasty generalizations, unproven conjectures and spurious Article.

At the top of the pseudo-sciences, criminology bonds from other areas of alleged scientific investigation. Stem cells from which the theoretical assumption of options, together with infectious deficiencies. Nothing in the field of "Social and Behavioral Sciences," Science, like any science should be envisaged. Understanding the definition and investigation of various modes of human behavior is based on theoretical frameworks. Good guessing defined understanding of crime. SpeculationIt spans both bad and good intentions. At the same time, just give practical applications of a certain degree of credibility in the certainty that a logical conclusion. The Truth asks for realistic credible property rights, reinforced by hardening of innovative forensic evidence. Because of the possibility of distraction, conjecture believe does not testify to the reliability of the burden of proof. In the scheme of "criminal profiling" or "psychological profiling", linguistic dexterity often conceals the crystal ballsociological tricks. The commercial use of such a "clairvoyant" and other fortune tellers, disrupt effective law enforcement tactical operations. Marry the sanctity of the relevant facts, evidence and forensic analysis needs to compete with symptoms of simple solutions. This invokes a jump to the conclusions one beginning an investigation. There are contradictions aplenty with the support of ambiguous statements. Illusions of fact supported by credible fictions, have much in common with palm treesReadings and other prophecies.

About the modern landscape of social conformity, we have used us as "legendary" setting "serial Profiler. So much so that we have accepted the exciting prospect of simple solutions. Instead of maximizing the traditional detective processes in which the crime scene plays an important role. We will now seek a quick solution "to the criminal's signature. Our own sensual nature takes in our flirtation with inventive film madness. With bold imagination demands, today's Detective genre wants to read us now, "" motives, inclinations and intentions from the crime scene. Whereas, traditional investigative methods, including careful analysis of aspects of the scene. The circumstances of the gathering. Implementing neighborhood paintings. Forensic analysis of the effects of physical evidence. Posting bulletins through the media. Use of informants, witnesses, and so on. All these are time-consuming.

In contrast, as we have the shortCuts. That brings us to occur in troubled waters. However, consider this point. With all the modern psycho-social support to criminal investigations in the last fifty years. Apart from the outstanding advances in the forensic sciences. How is it, our solution rate is falling in the range of violent crime? Murder is a good example. And what about global murder in general? Finally, thinking they had spent millions on "criminal profiling" to violent crime would not quite. And with theVariety of "experts", "profiling" career builders on the Internet, and "psychological profiling" capability, should we Matrix before the murder. Many investments in the solution less than one percent of crime index disappeared. Of these, the gap between clearance and unresolved increases. In addition, if you are rounding the suspects, following up references and factual assessment of the components. Then, how effective is a "profile" at all? Most of the time, collecting information from the public breaksthe case. Solvency is not resting on just one or two specific fix until after the fact. That is the fact that we have the analytical logic of the collection includes important details.

Often in the "psychic" trips, which we later discover the unknown suspect turns out to offer, quite unlike the "profile" as a guess. Some are older than believed that their younger counterparts. Others surprise you by instead of African American Caucasian. Nevertheless, some blue, in contrast to professionalcollar. For the police officer, such things aren't helpful if they're half right, sometimes right and most of the time highly speculative. If research suggests, as in one study, that "profiling", at best, only aided in two percent (2%) of the cases. Then our resources, assets and personnel need to be channeled into more productive probabilities. Also, in the proactive investigative process, we need to realize good budgets bust bad guys. That translates into officer training, education, Experience, salaries, equipment and so on. Not only clever types, the vulnerability of people, places and things into categories. Human behavior and his ego, to change a criminal nature, are much more complex than we like to believe. As opposed to believe, however, makes better headlines. Especially if you can your predictions so vague, general and superficial, the conclusion, no matter what the outcome of the work. It is a kind of shotgun approach on the pretext of "forensicPsychology. "Where you are proposing a number of ways. When you make mistakes, in time, the mistakes will be forgotten. The media attention on what you focus properly advised. Thus, the" criminal profiling "fact or fantasy ? stories are wonderful entertainment. But they're not funny in the whole of the real world of murder and the subsequent body count.

The Matrix

The Matrix Review

One of the best sci-fi movies ever made. Filmmaker Darren Aronofsky had this to say: "I walked out of The Matrix...and I was thinking, 'What kind of science fiction movie can people make now?' The Wachowskis basically took all the great sci-fi ideas of the 20th century and rolled them into a delicious pop culture sandwich that everyone on the planet devoured."

As for myself, I enjoyed watching this movie (again & again!), in spite of the the overt Christian symbolism:
[...]

I haven't seen the two sequels. Somehow I feel I'll be let down, even if they're not bad. I don't usually love Keanu Reeves but in this role he plays the clueless Neo well, and Hugo Weaving is one of modern cinema's classic villains as Mr. Smith.

The only downside to the DVD is the subpar commentary track (with Carrie-Anne Moss and two others).

The Matrix Overview

In the near future a computer hacker named neo discovers that all life on earth may be nothing more than an elaborate facade created by a malevolent cyber-intelligence for the purpose of placating us while our life essence is farmed to fuel the matrixs campaign of domination in the real world. Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 05/15/2007 Starring: Keanu Reeves Laurence Fishburne Run time: 136 minutes Rating: R Director: Andy Wachowski/larry Wachowski

The Matrix Specifications

By following up their debut thriller Bound with the 1999 box-office smash The Matrix, the codirecting Wachowski brothers--Andy and Larry--annihilated any suggestion of a sophomore jinx, crafting one of the most exhilarating sci-fi/action movies of the 1990s. Set in the not too distant future in an insipid, characterless city, we find a young man named Neo (Keanu Reeves). A software techie by day and a computer hacker by night, he sits alone at home by his monitor, waiting for a sign, a signal--from what or whom he doesn't know--until one night, a mysterious woman named Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) seeks him out and introduces him to that faceless character he has been waiting for: Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne). A messiah of sorts, Morpheus presents Neo with the truth about his world by shedding light on the dark secrets that have troubled him for so long: "You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad." Ultimately, Morpheus illustrates to Neo what the Matrix is--a reality beyond reality that controls all of their lives, in a way that Neo can barely comprehend.

Neo thus embarks on an adventure that is both terrifying and enthralling. Pitted against an enemy that transcends human concepts of evil, Morpheus and his team must train Neo to believe that he is the chosen champion of their fight. With mind-boggling, technically innovative special effects and a thought-provoking script that owes a debt of inspiration to the legacy of cyberpunk fiction, this is much more than an out-and-out action yarn; it's a thinking man's journey into the realm of futuristic fantasy, a dreamscape full of eye candy that will satisfy sci-fi, kung fu, action, and adventure fans alike. Although the film is headlined by Reeves and Fishburne--who both turn in fine performances--much of the fun and excitement should be attributed to Moss, who flawlessly mixes vulnerability with immense strength, making other contemporary female heroines look timid by comparison. And if we were going to cast a vote for most dastardly movie villain of 1999, it would have to go to Hugo Weaving, who plays the feckless, semipsychotic Agent Smith with panache and edginess. As the film's box-office profits soared, the Wachowski brothers announced that The Matrix is merely the first chapter in a cinematically dazzling franchise--a chapter that is arguably superior to the other sci-fi smash of 1999 (you know... the one starring Jar Jar Binks). --Jeremy Storey

Batman

Batman Review

Beautifully remastered and tons of special features. This is the Batman I grew up so of course it is my favorite. The new ones are great but this one just takes me back to my youth. Chuck your old copy and get this masterpiece.

Batman Feature

Batman Overview

Thanks to the ambitious vision of director Tim Burton, the blockbuster hit of 1989 delivers the goods despite an occasionally spotty script, giving the caped crusader a thorough overhaul in keeping with the crime fighter's evolution in DC Comics. Michael Keaton strikes just the right mood as the brooding "Dark Knight" of Gotham City; Kim Basinger plays Gotham's intrepid reporter Vicki Vale; and Jack Nicholson goes wild as the maniacal and scene-stealing Joker, who plots a takeover of the city with his lethal Smilex gas. Triumphant Oscar-winning production design by the late Anton Furst turns Batman into a visual feast, and Burton brilliantly establishes a darkly mythic approach to Batman's legacy. Danny Elfman's now-classic score propels the action with bold, muscular verve. --Jeff Shannon

The Polar Express Presented in 3-D

The Polar Express Presented in 3-D Review

Polar Express with the starring voice of Tom Hanks is a excellent piece of filming art. I for one, am very fond of this new generation of animation. The dimension, color and detail in modern animation is simply mind boggling.

This Warner Brothers G rated film has a easy to follow story and theme. This is a great treat for the whole family to enjoy. A very entertaining and fun Christmas movie.

I'm proud to be able to say I own this movie on DVD.

The Polar Express Presented in 3-D Overview

Destined to become a holiday perennial, The Polar Express also heralded a brave new world of all-digital filmmaking. Critics and audiences were divided between those who hailed it as an instant classic that captures the visual splendor and evocative innocence of Chris Van Allsburg's popular children's book, and those who felt that the innovative use of "performance capture"--to accurately translate live performances into all-digital characters--was an eerie and not-quite-lifelike distraction from the story's epic-scale North Pole adventure. In any case it's a benign, kind-hearted celebration of the yuletide spirit, especially for kids who have almost grown out of their need to believe in Santa Claus. Tom Hanks is the nominal "star" who performs five different computer-generated characters, but it's the visuals that steal this show, as director Robert Zemeckis indulges his tireless pursuit of technological innovation. No matter how you respond to the many wonders on display, it's clear that The Polar Express represents a significant milestone in the digital revolution of cinema. If it also fills you with the joy of Christmas (in spite of its Nuremberg-like rally of frantic elves), so much the better. --Jeff Shannon
